Walking by faith and not by feeling. This past week, I’ve been in the middle of the battle between faith and doubt. What do you do when on one side you know which road you want to take, but then you wonder if that road will truly lead you out of the forest into the clear. What do you do, when the team you want to cheer you on, is cheering for the other team? Maybe secretly expecting, hoping that you fail because they gave up on their dreams a long time ago. How do you keep going when there are more needing you than there are helping you.
Life Key: Keep Your Eyes On What You Seek Instead of What You See.
You are more than what you are going through. On your path, there will be lots of open road with coastal views and sunsets. But there will also be winding turns, bumpy uphills and maybe unpaved terrain. If you stop, well you already know how that ends. It’s when you keep going that you often discover that you had more in you than you realized. That you can go further, accomplish more, achieve beyond what you initially expected of yourself. All around may appear to be the end. It may look like you are trapped in a desolate, barren place. But you have to adjust your vision to the horizon beyond your current location.
Sometimes you are the only one cheering for your team. How do you remain motivated when you have to encourage yourself? Stop waiting on the feelings to line up with the mission. Keep going despite how you may feel sometimes. Keep praying. Keep doing the things that got you going in the first place. Do those things even when you don’t “feel” like it. Don’t quit. Don’t allow frustration to invite bitterness and defeat to the party. Face it, deal with it head on and then find a way to get going again. Do Not pack up frustration, heart break and discouragement to take with you on the journey. Deal with it, let it go, and move forward.
This week was difficult for me. I wanted to say “why bother”… but then what? Quit? Go back to a life of unfulfilled dreams and hiding behind the walls of fear and insecurity? Once you taste prime cut steak, its hard to go back to frozen, cheap cuts of meat. So, I take back up my journey. I’m not waiting on feeling like it. I’m moving on and the feelings will have to catch up with me.
Your turn:
Are you dealing with something in life that you have given up on?
Did you try to strike out and maybe you didn’t get the response you expected? As a result, you allowed frustration to make you quit? Will you try again?
This time just might be a keeper. Keep moving forward. Erase the period, and make it a comma. You can do it. You already know the life waiting on you if you throw in the towel and go backwards. But, remember your best victories are still up ahead.
Philippians 3:12-14 AMP
“Not that I have now attained or have already been made perfect, but I press on to lay hold of (grasp) and make my own, that for which Christ has laid hold of me and made me His own. I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own; but one thing I do forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.”
Bliss and Blessings!
